Men's Tennis Team Splits Pair of Contests

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team moved to 1-2 on the season after splitting a pair of matches at Wabash College. 

The Bluejays began the day with a 5-4 victory over Oberlin College before falling 7-2 to Wabash.

ELMHURST 5, OBERLIN 4 - The Bluejays scored their first win of the season by upending Oberlin College 5-4. Elmhurst won four of the six singles matches to win the contest. 

David Devaney scored a 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 win over Ben Turchin at No. 2 singles. Dean Leventis added a 3-6, 6-2, 10-3 win over Oberlin's Eliot Heaton at No. 4 singles while Justin Guenther defeated Sam Towne 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 at No. 5 singles. Jim White added a point at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Peder Davis.

In doubles play, the tandem of Leventis and Eric Moss scored an 8-4 win over Heaton and Davis at No. 2 doubles. 

WABASH 7, ELMHURST 2 - The Bluejays dropped to 1-2 on the season following a 7-2 loss to Wabash. Devaney scored the Bluejays' only point in singles play, downing Wabash's Ricky Ritter 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Devaney teamed with Dave Douglass at No. 1 singles to defeat Elliott Dewy and Ian Leonard 8-4.
