David Stone has announced the hiring of
Jim Warren as an assistant coach for the Bluejay track and field program. Warren will work primarily with the sprints and hurdles groups.
A decorated collegiate sprinter, Warren graduated from St. Ambrose University in 2016 with a degree in human performance and fitness. During his career, he became the most decorated athlete in St. Ambrose track and field history, earning multiple All-American honors. He was a three-time All-American in the 400-meter dash, a four-time All-American in the 4x400 relay, and added an All-American finish in the 600-meter run. Warren was also a Midwest Collegiate Conference champion and was twice named to the All-MCC team. He earned team MVP honors in 2015 and was selected as the program's Newcomer of the Year in 2013.
Following his standout collegiate career, Warren continued his training and qualified for the 2022 USATF Indoor Championships in the 800 meters.
Warren has developed extensive coaching and training experience at multiple levels. Since 2019, he has worked with the Iowa Speed Track Club, training athletes from elementary through high school in a variety of track and field events. He also volunteered with the University of Iowa track and field program from 2018-22 and previously served as an assistant speed and agility coach at Christian Life High School in Rockford, Ill.
In addition to his coaching background, Warren has worked in strength and performance training with Precision Sports Training and Quad City Sport Performance, where he assisted high school and collegiate athletes in sport-specific conditioning.
