Jim Warren joined the Elmhurst University track and field coaching staff in 2025 as an assistant coach, working primarily with the Bluejays’ sprinters and hurdlers.
A standout sprinter at St. Ambrose University, Warren graduated in 2016 with a degree in human performance and fitness. He left as the most decorated athlete in program history, collecting 12 All-American honors. Warren was a three-time All-American in the 400-meter dash, a four-time All-American in the 4x400 relay, and an All-American in the 600-meter run. He was named team MVP in 2015, earned Newcomer of the Year honors in 2013, and was a Midwest Collegiate Conference champion in both the 400 meters and 4x400 relay. Warren was also a two-time recipient of the NAIA Champion of Character Award.
Following graduation, Warren continued his competitive career and qualified for the 2022 USATF Indoor Championships in the 800 meters.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Warren brings years of coaching and training experience to Elmhurst. Since 2019, he has worked with the Iowa Speed Track Club, developing athletes from elementary school through high school in a variety of sprint and hurdle events. He also served as a volunteer coach with the University of Iowa track and field program from 2018–22 and was an assistant speed and agility coach at Christian Life High School in Rockford, Ill.
Warren has further experience in strength and performance training through his work with Precision Sports Training in Rockford and Quad City Sport Performance in Davenport, where he assisted high school and collegiate athletes in sport-specific conditioning.
