WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's cross country team competed at the Gill Dodds Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College at St. James Farm on September 20.
Sophomore David Valkanov was Elmhurst's top finisher, clocking a 26:23.0 to place 18th overall in a competitive field of more than 250 runners. Sophomore Michael Bailey followed closely behind, taking 37th in 27:05.0. Senior Brandon Pounders added a 64th-place showing with a time of 27:41.2, while sophomore Chris Marroquin crossed in 164th at 30:14.8 to complete the lineup.
The University of Chicago dominated the team race, placing its first five runners in the top six to win with 20 points. Carthage finished second with 95 points, while Wheaton (114), Kalamazoo (118), and Millikin (130) rounded out the top five.
