he Elmhurst University men's cross country team wrapped up its 2025 fall season with a determined performance at the CCIW Championships, held November 1 at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois. The Bluejays placed sixth overallin the team standings with a score of 154 points, marking one of their strongest conference finishes in recent years.
Sophomore David Valkanov continued his standout season, pacing Elmhurst with a 25:43.1 finish to place 11th overalland earn CCIW All-Conference Second Team honors. Valkanov's performance highlighted his consistency as the team's top runner throughout the fall.
Sophomore Michael Bailey was next across the line in 26:27.0, good for 25th place, followed closely by junior Eric Martinez, who placed 29th with a time of 26:40.9. Senior Brandon Pounders turned in a strong effort of 27:23.6 to take 50th place and was recognized by the conference with the CCIW Respect Award, honoring his sportsmanship and leadership. Junior Kayden Miller closed out the scoring five in 65th place with a 28:24.4, while sophomore Chris Marroquin finished 68th in 28:46.7 to round out Elmhurst's lineup.
The Bluejays' steady pack running placed them sixth among the nine CCIW programs, led by North Central's team title. Elmhurst's blend of veteran leadership and underclassmen talent provided a strong foundation heading into the 2026 campaign.
