Flores Tabbed Associate Head Cross Country/Assistant Track and Field Coach

ELMHURST, Ill.- Elmhurst University Athletics and Director of Track and Field & Cross Country David Stone has announced the hiring of Kyle Flores as the new associate head cross country/assistant track and field coach.

Flores comes to Elmhurst with extensive NCAA Division III coaching experience and a strong record of competitive success. He most recently served as the head cross country coach at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, from 2023-2025. Prior to that, he was the head men's cross country and track & field coach at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont, California, from 2021-2023. He also served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Pomona-Pitzer from 2017-2021.

Flores was named the 2021 NCAA Division III National Cross Country Coach of the Year, a two-time West Region Cross Country Coach of the Year (2021, 2022), and a two-time SCIAC Cross Country Coach of the Year. He was also honored as the 2022 West Region Assistant Track Coach of the Year and 2023 Stride Report Division III Distance Coach of the Year.

His teams earned multiple conference and regional titles, including NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Championships in 2019 and 2021, three straight NCAA West Region Championships (2019, 2021, 2022), and back-to-back SCIAC Championships (2021, 2022). Flores coached a total of 16 All-Americans, 26 USTFCCCA All-Academic Award athletes, and 16 school record holders. His training programs produced a former Division III national record holder in the steeplechase and numerous elite-level performances in distance events.

Flores began his coaching career as an assistant boys' cross country and track & field coach at Glenbard North High School (2016-17). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University, where he was a four-time All-GLIAC runner and part of two NCAA Division II national runner-up teams. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in applied sport psychology from Northern Michigan University.
