Head Coach Andrew Demos knew the dual would be close, and he was spot on.  His Bluejay women's wrestling team won five of ten matches in front of a full crowd at home against the Augustana Vikings.  Augustana won the contest by a team score of 23-21.  Elmhurst is now 3-3 on the season.  The dual was full of fireworks.

At 103 pounds, Mia Vazquez (AU) defeated Claire Crouch by a score of 8-0.  Returner Veronica Cosio, the BlueJay 110 pounder avenged that loss with a solid 10-0 technical fall against Jo Orozco.  Cosio improves to 5-3 this season.  Elmhurst's Valentina Fantoni scored in multiple attacks both on her feet and in the top position to win 13-2 over Gwen Burbridge.  Fantoni is tied for the most wins on the team this season with seven.

Kendall Moss-Smith, 124, made it three wins in a row when she defeated Hannah Suboni-Kaufman by a 4-4 tiebreaker criteria.  That match was knotted at 4-4 at the halfway break.  Moss-Smith locked the door for the final three minutes to hold on for the win.  Moss-Smith owns a winning record of 6-4 on the season.  The victory pulled the BlueJays ahead in the team score 11-5.  Moni Griffin started a four match win streak for the Vikings when she won by technical fall over Bella Curcuro at 131 pounds.  At 138, Bri Bynum won by fall over Viola Pianetto.  Veteran Aine Moffit of Augustana followed with a pin over Katherine McElhose at 145 pounds and Maryam Ndiaye scored a 10-0 technical fall over BlueJay Lily Avalos.  The four wins put the Vikings ahead 11-23 in the team score.

Elmhurst scored wins in the final two bouts of the night with Julie Lafort, 180, and Anjali Gonzalez, 207, both scoring pins against Jaiden Moody and Angela Guy respectively.  Lefort improved her record to 6-4 this year, with five of those wins coming by fall.  Lefort is the team leader in falls.  Gonzalez and Guy proved to be one of the most exciting matches of the night as the two used a series of throws to determine the outcome.  Gonzalez secured the fall as the final second of the last period expired.
