ELMHURST, Ill.- The Elmhurst University women's wrestling team delivered a commanding performance in its dual against Heidelberg, powering to a 43–6 victory behind a wave of bonus-point wins and five uncontested weight classes.
Elmhurst opened the night with Claire Crouch (103 lbs.) setting the tone, controlling early before finishing with a fall at 1:14 to put the Bluejays on top. At 110 pounds, Zeel Mody added another five team points with a forfeit win.
The Bluejays kept the momentum at 117 pounds, where Valentina Fantoni turned in one of the dual's strongest performances. After a scoreless first period, Fantoni surged with a series of takedowns and turns, earning a 12–2 technical fall at 4:59 to extend the Elmhurst lead.
Elmhurst then rattled off three consecutive forfeit victories from Anjali Gonzalez (207), Kendall Smith (124), Bella Curcuru (131), and Viola Pianetto (138), pushing the advantage well out of reach.
Elmhurst closed the dual with three more powerful wins. At 145 pounds, Grace Johnson wrestled aggressively from the outset but fell by pin at 1:45. The Bluejays answered immediately at 160, where Lily Avalos controlled her match wire-to-wire, earning a 10–0 technical fall in 3:43. Juliana Lefort dominated at 180 pounds, scoring repeatedly before securing a fall in 1:08, sealing the Bluejays' 43-6 triumph.
The decisive victory marks one of Elmhurst's strongest dual performances of the season, showcasing depth, bonus-point capability, and control across nearly every weight class.
The Bluejays return to the mat next Tuesday November, 18th at 6:00 pm, looking to build on their aggressive start and turn strong individual performances into dual victories.
