ELMHURST, Ill. -Â Elmhurst University and Director of Athletics Dr. Glen Brittich have announced the hiring of Tracie Adix-Zins as the Bluejays' next head softball coach.
"We are very excited to welcome Coach Adix-Zins to the Bluejay family. It was apparent from the first conversation we had that she was a very genuine individual who cared about the experience of the student-athletes. Her desire to provide a balanced experience for our student-athletes was extremely evident and will create an atmosphere in which our student-athletes will be able to thrive both academically and athletically. Not only does she bring a great amount of passion for the student-athlete experience, she is a very high level coach and we are excited to bring that level of softball acumen to our program" Dr. Brittich commented.
Adix-Zins comes to Elmhurst after serving in the same capacity at DePaul University in Chicago for the past six seasons. With the Blue Demons, Adix-Zins led the program to three seasons of 20+ wins. She led her team to the BIG EAST Championship twice in her time in Chicago (2019, 2021)Â and one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018, winning BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2021. Overall, Adix-Zins led the Blue Demons to a 125-133 overall record, and a 53-49 mark in BIG EAST play.
"I am incredibly honored to join Elmhurst University as the head coach of the softball program. I want to thank Dr. Glen Brittich and the committee for this amazing opportunity to lead a team of talented women. I am excited to get to know the players and contribute to their growth, both as athletes and as strong, confident women" Adix-Zins said.
Prior to her time at DePaul, Adix-Zins had stints as an assistant at Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and North Carolina State, and served as a graduate assistant coach at South Dakota State.
