WHITEWATER, Wisc. – Elmhurst Softball stepped out of league play on Friday, taking on Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bluejays had a tough day at the plate, falling to the Warhawks by shutout in both games of a doubleheader, 4-0.
Game 1
Wisconsin-Whitewater 4, Elmhurst 0

The home team would take an early lead, scoring three runs in the 2nd inning. After another score in the 4th, Elmhurst had their best scoring chance in the top of the 6th, with a two-out walk drawn by Danielle Hood and a base hit to center from Tia Splitgerber, but the Jays were unable to push a run across the plate.
Five Bluejays would record base hits in the game, with Hood and Splitgerber each reaching base twice with a single and walk.
Game 2
Wisconsin-Whitewater 4, Elmhurst 0
WP: Marsh • LP: Hoyh (4-5) • Sv: Hock
The Bluejays were held without a base hit until the top of the 4th, when Annamarie Vivirito singled to lead off the inning, followed by a base hit from Bailey Proffitt, but three straight groundouts would end the Elmhurst threat. Whitewater took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the 3rd, and doubled their lead with two more in the bottom of the 5th.
Bella Swift led the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Bluejays return to Salt Creek Park on Sunday, when they host Aurora (Ill.) for an afternoon doubleheader. First pitch with the Spartans is set for noon.
