Bluejays fall in road doubleheader at Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wisc. – The Bluejays would collect a total of 19 base hits over their doubleheader with Carroll on Tuesday, but Elmhurst were unable to pull out a win, falling 8-4 and 4-3 to the Pioneers.

The home team would score in each of the first four innings, jumping out to a 4-0 lead through three before Elmhurst would respond in the top of the 4th. Danielle Hood's two-run blast to center would close the gap to 4-2 on the senior's first home run of the season.

Carroll add three more runs in the bottom of the 4th, before the Bluejays rallied in the 6th inning. A leadoff walk from Hood followed by Maddie Kriech's double set the table for a two-run single from Kaylee Aimone. The Pioneers would get out of the inning without taking further damage, and hold on for the win.

Kriech finished 3-for-4 to lead the Jays at the plate in the opener, with a double and run scored. Aimone went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Bluejays struck first in game two, plating a pair of runs in the top of the 1st. The first three batters would reach base, allowing Kriech to bring home a run on a sacrifice fly. Josie Waite then singled to left to bring in Annamarie Vivirito for an early 2-0 lead.

Carroll responded with four runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take the lead. In the top of the 5th, Waite singled to lead off the frame, then advanced around to eventually score on an RBI groundout from Aimone. The Pioneers would end the rally there however, and Elmhurst were unable to bring home the tying run in the 6th and 7th innings.

Vivirito finished 3-for-4 in game two, while Hood, Waite, and Bailey Proffitt each collected two hits in the game.

The Bluejays will wrap up the 2026 regular season on Saturday, when they travel to Augustana for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
