2/1/2022 9:00:00 AM

ELMHURST, Ill. -  Cameron Andrew has been named the head volleyball coach at Elmhurst University. Andrew comes to Elmhurst after spending the past four years at Dominican University where he coached both the women's and men's volleyball programs, amassing a 99-43 combined record and a NCAA Final Four appearance.

Andrew is the 10th head coach in the history of the Elmhurst volleyball program, taking over for Julie Hall, who announced her retirement after 28 years at the helm of team.

"I'm so excited to begin this new era of Elmhurst volleyball," said Andrew. "The history of the program speaks for itself. The success that Coach Hall helped bring to Elmhurst is really astounding. I've enjoyed competing against Elmhurst over the last few years and was impressed with the University and athletic department as a whole. I know our student-athletes will have the opportunity to pursue their academic and career goals, all while playing volleyball at a high level. It's truly an opportunity for our team members to get the complete DIII experience."

Andrew spent the 2017 season as an assistant coach at Dominican and took over head coaching duties of the women's team in 2018. In his first season as the Stars' head coach, he compiled a 20-10 overall record, a third-place finish in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 list. He helped the Stars post a 23-7 mark in 2019 and a 13-3 mark and a NACC South Division championship in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign. In four seasons, he posted a 65-39 overall record with the women's team while coaching 10 all-conference performers, including two NACC Defensive Players of the Year and a NACC Freshman of the Year.

Andrew was named Dominican's head men's volleyball coach in 2019 and posted a 13-2 record in his first season with the team in 2020. Last spring, Andrew guided the Stars to a 17-2 overall record, winning the NACC Championship and a spot in the NCAA Final Four. The team was ranked as high as third in the nation during the 2021 season. In two plus season, he compiled a head coaching record of 34-4 and coached three All-Americans and 12 all-conference performers, including a two-time NACC Player of the Year and a NACC Defensive Player of the Year.

"We're excited to welcome Cameron Andrew to Elmhurst University," said Elmhurst University Director of Athletics Glen Brittich. "As both a former Division III student-athlete and as a Division III head coach at Dominican, Cameron truly understands the Division III experience. His programs have a proven track record of success on the court while maintaining a high standard of academic accomplishments in the classroom. Volleyball is the most decorated sport in Elmhurst history, and I believe the program is in good hands with Cameron."

Andrew began his coaching career at Rhodes College in Tennessee in 2013. He spent four seasons with the Lynx and helped coach 15 all-conference student-athletes.

Andrew knows that he is taking over a program with a rich tradition of success that includes a pair of national championships, a national runner-up and nine College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships.

"There is obviously a strong volleyball foundation at Elmhurst, and I can't wait to find the ways in which we can improve and build upon that foundation," Andrew said. "I'll be itching to get into the gym with this group of student-athletes so we can begin building together."

Andrew inherits an Elmhurst team that finished the 2021 season with a 16-13 overall record and a third-place finish in the CCIW.

"This team has a really bright future and I know I'm stepping into a program that is ready to take the next big step forward," said Andrew. "I think I'm most looking forward to finding ways to push this team to new heights. The team had such a strong showing in CCIW play last season and put themselves in a position to advance in the tournament. I'm excited to have the opportunity to help push the program toward that CCIW championship match in 2022."

Andrew played collegiate volleyball at Juniata College in Pennsylvania, serving as team captain and helping to lead the Eagles to a berth in the NCAA Tournament his senior season. He earned his bachelor's degree from Juniata in 2013.

Andrew is married to Brianna Hill, a former Division III volleyball player at Transylvania University. The couple are proud parents to a 16-month old son, Cassius.
