BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team slipped to 8-8 on the season following a 6-3 road loss at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Illinois Wesleyan (4-9, 3-3 CCIW) picked up the victory by sweeping all three doubles contests and splitting the six singles matches.
In doubles action, the Titans' Alex George and Martjin Van Dooren downed
Chris Harrison and
Luke Tanaka 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Calen Crim and Kurt Meyer toppled Elmhurst's
Matt Kulma and
Ricardo Franco 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. IWU's Kevin Piotrowski and Kyle Hyland upended
Quinn Jennings and
Allen Riquelme 9-8 at No. 3 doubles.
George toppled Harrison 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Van Dooren upended Tanaka 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Elmhurst (2-4 CCIW) scored wins at No. 3-5 singles. Jennings dispatched Crim 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles while Kulma toppled Meyer 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Franco used three sets (7-5, 4-6, 6-4) to edge Piotrowski at No. 5 singles. Hyland closed out singled play with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Riquelme at No. 6 singles.Â
Elmhurst plays at Aurora University on Thursday, April 23.
