ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team opened CCIW play by cruising to an 8-1 victory over North Central College.
Elmhurst won two of three doubles matches and then breezed through the six singles contests en route to the win.

Chris Harrison edged Oliver Moews and Aleksandar Vasic 9-7 at No. 1 doubles. North Central's Connor Sass and Ryan Doeckel toppled Elmhurst's
Ricardo Franco and
Matt Kulma 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Elmhurst scored an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles with the Bluejays' tandem of
Quinn Jennings and
Alex Abbuhl defeating Kevin Davenport and Adam Winters.
The Bluejays cruised in singles competition sweeping all six contests while not dropping a set. Tanaka dispatched Moews 6-3, 6-0 at No, 1 singles while Harrison upended Sass 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Jennings was nearly perfect at No. 3 singles, scoring a 6-1, 6-0 win over Vasic. Abbuhl blanked Winters 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Kulma followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Doeckel at No. 5 singles. Franco closed out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tyler Ringle at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst plays three matches on its spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. on March 23-24.
