Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst softball team moved to 4-4 on the season after splitting games with Calvin College and Kalamazoo College at the NTC Spring games in Florida.
The Bluejays began the day with an 8-0 loss to Calvin before bouncing back to shutout Kalamazoo 8-0.
CALVIN 8, ELMHURST 0 - Elmhurst struggled offensively against Calvin's Cassidy Vlot. The Bluejays managed just two hits and were held off the scoreboard for the first time on the season.
Vlot pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and not issuing a walk in five innings of work.
While Vlot provided the pitching for Calvin, Lina Avila supplied the power for the Knight's offense. The first baseman finished 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBI, slugging a two-run home in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Alyssa Jasinski and 
Bella Masini recorded one hit apiece to account for Elmhurst's offense.
Scarlett Pucci made the start and took the loss for the Bluejays, surrendering four hits and five runs (four earned) in 1.2 innings of work. 
Tiffany Potthast finished up, allowing six hits and three hits in 3.1 innings of work.
ELMHURST 8, KALAMAZOO 0 - In a complete reversal of the Calvin game, the Bluejays' offense banged out nine hits and scored eight runs while limiting Kalamazoo to only two hits in the contest.
Elmhurst scored a run in the first on a 
Clare Bukowski RBI single. A bases loaded walk to 
Meg Griffin and a ground ball from Jasinski gave Elmhurst a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Griffin doubled home a run and then scored on a Kalamazoo error to stake the Bluejays to a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning.
Katie Boals singled home a run in the sixth and the second bases loaded walk of the game to Griffin forced home another run. 
Mikayla Melone doubled home Elmhurst's final run of the game in the seventh inning.
Griffin drove in a team-leading three runs in the game while Boals scored three times and drove in a run. 
Stephanie Hintz and 
Ele Walter finished with two hits apiece in the win.
Boals notched her second victory of the season from the circle. The junior limited Kalamazoo to just two hits while striking out six and not allowing a walk over seven innings of work.
Elmhurst faces Hamline and Colby on Tuesday, March 25.
