Softball Team Takes Two on Florida Trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst softball team pulled to .500 on its spring trip to Florida by defeating Oberlin College 5-1 and shutting out Rutgers University-Camden 8-0.

ELMHURST 5, OBERLIN 1 - Katie Boals pitched a complete game for the Bluejays and limited Oberlin to just one run while helping Elmhurst earn its second win of the season.

Oberlin scored its only run of the game on a leadoff home run from Emily King in the top of the first, but the Bluejays answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Elmhurst scored its first run after Alyssa Jasinski came home to score on an Oberlin error. Boals helped her own cause and with an RBI triple to drive home Bella Masini.

Elmhurst tacked on a run in the fourth on Jasinski's RBI grounder. The Bluejays tacked on two runs in the fifth on an RBI double from Clare Bukowski and a run-scoring single from Ele Walter.

Masini finished and Walter finished with three hits apiece in the victory.

Boals went the distance, allowing just six hits and one earned run. She fanned two batters while not issuing a walk.

ELMHURST 8, RUTGERS-CAMDEN 0 - The Bluejays evened their record at 3-3 on the season by shutting out Rutgers-Camden 8-0.

The Bluejays scored three in the second, three in third and two in the sixth en route to the eight-run victory in six innings.

A sacrifice fly from Brianna Thompson and an RBI double from Stephanie Hintz helped spark Elmhurst's three-run outburst in the second inning. RBIs from Ele Walter and Hintz keyed a three-run third inning for the Bluejays.

A past ball and an RBI single from Thompson capped Elmhurst's scoring in the sixth inning.

Clare Bukowski and Tiffany Potthast totaled two hits apiece and scored three runs each in the win. Thompson finished 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Potthast went the distance and tossed a shutout for the Bluejays to earn the victory. She scattered three hits and three walks.
