Box Score 2 CHICAGO, Ill. - The sixth-ranked Elmhurst volleyball team rolled to victories over Judson and Wisconsin Lutheran on the first day of the University of Chicago tournament.
Elmhurst (11-1) made short work of both opponents, defeating Judson 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 and Wisconsin Lutheran 25-11, 25-22, 25-16.
ELMHURST 3, JUDSON 0 - Elmhurst hit .318 (44-16-88) for the match in a three-set win over the Eagles.
Sam Szarmach led a balanced attack, finishing with a team-leading 10 kills and six digs while hitting .318.
Marci Novak chipped in with six kills and seven digs while
Megan Reynolds and
Jess Suarez totaled five kills apiece. Reynolds hit a whopping .833 with five kills in six attempts. She added a team-leading three blocks in the win.
Katie Rueffer finished with 13 assists while
Lauren Lorenz totaled 10 assists and, four kills and four aces.
Hannah Lessen tallied a match-high 12 digs for the Bluejays.
Taylor Lesner led Judson in the loss with five kills and four blocks.
ELMHURST 3, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 0 - The Bluejays won their fourth straight match in a three-set win over Wisconsin Lutheran. Novak powered the Bluejays' offense with 12 kills, seven blocks and five digs. Reynolds added six kills and a match-high eight blocks while
Kaitlyn Wilks chipped in with five kills and three blocks.
Lauren Lorenz led the team in assists with 23 while Katie Reuffer added nine assists. Lessen finished with a team-leading seven digs.
Erin Greenfield led Wisconsin Lutheran with 11 kills in the loss.
Elmhurst, ranked sixth in the latest AVCA poll, takes on Benedictine University and 17th-ranked Christopher Newport University on the tournament's second day.
