Box Score 2 NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst softball team slipped to 0-6 in CCIW play after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to North Central College. The Bluejays fell 9-0 in game one and fell one-run shy in an 8-7 loss in game two.
The games were originally scheduled to be played in Elmhurst but were moved to North Central due to poor field conditions at Salt Creek Park.
NORTH CENTRAL 9, ELMHURST 0 - North Central (23-1, 3-1 CCIW) hammered the Bluejays in the opener, scoring multiple runs in four different innings.
The Cardinals scored two in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth en route to the 9-0 win.
North Central's Vlasta Mangia silenced Elmhurst's bats, limiting the Bluejays to only three hits in six innings of work. Mangia walked one and fanned four.
Lindsey Mikulecky recorded two of the Bluejays' three hits in the loss.
Tiffany Potthast took the loss for Elmhurst, surrendering nine hits and six earned runs in six innings of work. She walked five and struck out one.
NORTH CENTRAL 8, ELMHURST 7 - North Central scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past Elmhurst for an 8-7 win in game two.
Elmhurst trailed 6-4 after five innings, but the Bluejays struck for three runs in the sixth to take the lead. With two on and one out, 
Ele Walter tripled to center field to to drive in two runs and even the score at 6-6. 
Katie Boals' grounder drove in Walter and put Elmhurst on top.
North Central's Carly Trenhaile doubled home two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to put the Cardinals on top for good.
The Bluejays threatened in the seventh, with back-to-back singles to start the inning, but a groundout and a double play ended the game.
Walter finished with two hits and two RBI while also scoring two runs. Boals collected two hits and drove in two while 
Bella Masini, 
Rachel Cooke and Potthast recorded two hits apiece in the win.
Boals took the loss for the Bluejays, surrendering 10 hits and six walks and allowing eight earned runs.
