HANOVER PARK, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team slipped to 4-6 on the season following an 8-1 loss to Aquinas College.
Aquinas (11-4, ranked 13th in NAIA) swept the six singles matches and took two out of three doubles contests.
Elmhurst scored its only point in doubles play when the team of
Quinn Jennings and
Vincent McPherson teamed to defeat Brendan Petz and Michael Sendor 9-7 at No. 3 doubles. Aquinas' duo of Aaron Hendrick and Nik Artaev defeated
Alex Harbert and
Will Jung 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Kristoff Saari and Kyle Masteller defeated
Chris Harrison and
Luke Tanaka 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Hendrick defeated Harbert 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Artaev defeated Jung 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Saari edged McPherson in three sets at No 3 singles (6-2, 3-6, 12-10). Masteller defeated Tanaka 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Aquinas' Frakie Fisher edged Jennings 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Andy Struble closed out singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Harrison.
