Box Score 2 DECORAH, Iowa - The Elmhurst volleyball team upped its record to 19-1 and ran its winning streak to 12 games with a pair of victories at the Wartburg College Tournament.
Elmhurst, ranked sixth in the latest AVCA Division III poll, scored a pair of three-set wins over Bethel (Minn.) and Concordia-Moorhead.
ELMHURST, 3 BETHEL 0 - Elmhurst breezed to a 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 win over Bethel University to open the tournament. The Bluejays hit .309 as a team with just 13 errors.
Megan Reynolds powered the Elmhurst attack, finishing with 10 kills and a match-high six blocks.
Sam Szarmach added nine kills and seven digs while
Kaitlyn Wilks added six kills.
Marci Novak and
Hannah Nimrick finished with four kills apiece for the Bluejays. Novak added 10 digs and two aces while Nimrick chipped in 11 assists.
Lauren Lorenz led the squad in assists with 17 while also contributing eight digs.
Hannah Lessen turned in a team-leading 15 digs.
Bethel was led by Carlee Hoppe's seven-kill, eight-dig performance.
ELMHURST 3, CONCORDIA 0 - The Bluejays won their 12th consecutive match with an easy 25-18, 25-12, 25-9 win over Concordia. The Bluejays pounded down 52 kills while adding committing only 10 errors, hitting .429 as a squad.
Novak powered the attack with 15 kills and 12 digs while hitting .619 (15-2-21) for the match. Szarmach added 11 kills while hitting .529. Reynolds added ix kills while Wilks,
Katie Rueffer and
Jess Suarez finished with five kills apiece. Lorenz totaled a team-leading 17 assists while Rueffer finished with 16. Lessen added 16 digs for the Bluejays in the win.
Concordia was led by Kynndyl Ross' six kills.
Elmhurst will get a rematch of its 2012 NCAA semifinal loss to the University of St. Thomas tomorrow morning. The Bluejays will wrap up the tournament with an afternoon match against the tournament host Knights.
