Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team remained unbeaten in the CCIW after sweeping Illinois Wesleyan 25-14, 25-9, 25-13.
Elmhurst, ranked fifth in the latest AVCA Division III poll, improved to 28-4 overall and 6-0 in the CCIW. Elmhurst will face Millikin University (6-0 in the CCIW) next Tuesday, November 5, with the winner earning the CCIW Championship and the right to host the conference tournament.
Elmhurst wasted no time in jumping out in front of the Titans. The Bluejays scored the first six points of the set and cruised to the 25-14 win. The second set started in an identical fashion as the Bluejays scored the first six points en route to the 25-9 victory. Elmhurst raced out to an early 6-1 lead in the third set and closed the set on a 10-5 run to close out the match and the set.
Elmhurst finished the contest hitting .345 with 42 kills and just 12 errors. Illinois Wesleyan struggled, hitting -.051 with 19 kills and 24 errors in 98 attempts.
Sam Szarmach paced Elmhurst's offense with 14 kills and four blocks while hitting .462.
Marci Novak pounded down seven kills and totaled 11 digs while
Kaitlyn Wilks added seven kills while hitting .600.
Megan Reynolds finished with six kills and a match-leading seven blocks.
Hannah Nimrick finished with 22 assists while
Lauren Lorenz added 11.
Hannah Lessen totaled a team-leading 14 digs in the win.
Elmhurst travels to the Benedictine University tournament this weekend (November 1-2) before hosting Millikin University in a CCIW showdown on Tuesday, November 5.
