Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team, ranked fifth in the latest AVCA Division III national poll, improved to 25-4 overall and 5-0 in the CCIW with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-14 win over North Park.

After trailing 8-4 early in the first set, the Bluejays evened the score at 12-12 and then closed the set on a 13-5 run to take the opening set 25-17.

Elmhurst surged out to a 7-1 lead in the second set before North Park (9-16, 1-5 CCIW) battled back and took an 11-9 lead. The Bluejays answered back to take a 16-13 lead before North Park evened the score at 19-19. Elmhurst ripped off five straight points to take a 24-19 lead before winning the set 25-20.

The third set belonged to Elmhurst as the Bluejays used a 15-2 run to take a commanding 19-5 lead before coasting to the 25-14 victory.

Elmhurst hit .299 as a team (43-14-97) while North Park finished the game hitting .153 (32-17-98).

Marci Novak led the Bluejays with 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Sam Szarmach added nine kills for the Bluejays while Kaitlyn Wilks added eight kills and two blocks while hitting a team-best .500. Megan Reynolds pounded down six kills and registered a match-high seven blocks. Loren Lorenz finished with 18 assists while Hannah Nimrick totaled seven for the Bluejays. Hannah Lessen added a team-leading nine digs in the win.

North Park was led by Shelby Switzer's 14 kills and eight digs.

Elmhurst travels to the University of Chicago on Friday, October 25 to face the host Maroons and Alma College.
