ELMHURST, Ill. - Four members of the Elmhurst College softball team have received all-conference honors after leading the Bluejays to their first CCIW Tournament appearance in 15 years.
Lindsey Mikulecky and
Meg Griffin both received first-team honors while
Clare Bukowski and
Lindsay Nauman were both selected to the second team.
Mikulecky earned the first all-conference honor of her career at catcher. The junior played in 39 contests and finished the season with a .265 average. She ranked second on the squad in home runs (four) while ranking fifth on the team in RBI (22). Mikulecky turned in a strong CCIW season, finishing with a .308 average against league competition.
Griffin earned first-team all-conference honors as an outfielder while enjoying a breakout freshman campaign. Griffin led the squad in batting average (.408), hits (53), slugging percentage (600), on-base percentage (.455), runs scored (35), and doubles. Her 19 doubles this season established a new single-season Elmhurst record while she also turned in the second-highest single-season totals in runs scored, extra-base hits, and total bases (78). He 53 hits is the third-highest single-season total in school history.
Griffin ranked seventh in the CCIW in batting average by posting a .383 mark in league competition. She also finished as the league's co-leader in doubles with six.
A sophomore outfielder, Bukowski garnered the first all-conference honor of her career after setting new single-season and career records in home runs. Bukowski slugged seven homers this season, breaking her own single-season record in the process. Her 13 career home runs is also a new Elmhurst record. Bukowski finished the season as the team's leader in RBI (31) while also scoring 28 runs and belting nine doubles. Her 31 RBI and 74 total bases are the fourth-highest single-season totals in school history.
In CCIW contests, Bukowski hit .311 while finishing as the league's co-leader in doubles with six.
Nauman closed out her four-year career by picking up the first all-CCIW honor of her career as a pitcher. Nauman led the Bluejays in victories with an 11-8 record from the circle. She posted a 2.71 ERA while posting a pair of saves and fanning 88 batters. A CCIW Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season, she tossed a pair of no-hitters in the same week. She closed out her career as Elmhurst's leader in no-hitters (three) while also ranking second in wins (29), strikeouts (276) and shutouts (nine).
In league contests, Nauman posted a 4-2 record with one save and a 2.82 ERA.
In addition to qualifying for the CCIW Tournament, Elmhurst also finished the season with a 25-17 overall record, matching its best-ever single season victory total.
