Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - Stephanie Iori became the Elmhurst College softball team's all-time winningest pitcher while the Bluejays ran their winning streak to four games with wins over Wellesley College and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
ELMHURST 4, WELLESLEY 1 - Elmhurst jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back, scoring a three-run victory over Wellesley.
Rose Wysocki's run-scoring single put the Bluejays up 1-0 after one inning.
Tiffany Potthast drove in a run in the third with a double. Potthast scored on
Meg Griffin's RBI grounder, putting the Bluejays up 3-0. Wellesley scored a run in the fourth, but the Bluejays tacked on a run in the fifth on Griffin's RBI single.
Bella Masini reached base three times and scored three of the Bluejays' four runs. Griffin and Potthast recorded two hits apiece in the win.
Iori was sharp in the circle to record the win. She scattered five hits and a pair of walks while pitching a complete game. She allowed just one unearned run while striking out four.
With the win, Iori improved to 6-0 on the season, recording her 30th career victory and setting a new school record for victories in the process. Iori's career record now stands at 30-20.
ELMHURST 9, UW-STEVENS POINT 1 - The Bluejays jumped on the scoreboard for five runs in the first and tacked on four runs in the fourth to score a 9-1 win shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.
The Pointers committed five errors, including three in the first inning. The Bluejays cashed in on the mistakes, scoring four unearned runs in the first inning.
Griffin sparked the Bluejays' offense with a 3-for-3 day at the plate.She scored two runs while also driving in one. Potthast doubled and drove in a team-leading three runs while also scoring twice. Wysocki drove in two while Masini and
Sarah Cademartori each scored two runs.
Lindsay Nauman followed up on her no-hitter from a day earlier by tossing a two-hitter. Nauman allowed just one earned run while walking four and striking out five. She improved to 2-3 on the season with the win.
The Bluejays wrap up their 12-game Florida trip with contests against Allegheny and Southern Maine on Friday (March 23).
