Bluejay Softball Team Shuts Out Two in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. - The Elmhurst College softball team shutout Western Connecticut University and Thomas College at the NTC Spring Games to improve to 9-3 overall. Lindsay Nauman tossed the second no-hitter of her career in the win over Thomas.

ELMHURST 3, WESTERN CONNECTICUT 0 - Elmhurst scored twice in the second inning and tacked on a run in the fourth to account for all three of the game's runs.

Katie Boals squeezed home a run to start the scoring in a second. An RBI groundout from Carly Kaminke gave the Bluejays a 2-0 lead. A throwing error on Western Connecticut in the fourth gave the Bluejays a 3-0 lead.

Meg Griffin collected a pair of hits and scored twice for the Bluejays.

Stephanie Iori made the three runs stand up for the Bluejays, tossing a complete game and improving to 5-0 on the season. Iori scattered seven hits over seven innings. She fanned seven while not issuing a walk.

ELMHURST 10, THOMAS 0 - Nauman picked up the second no-hitter of her career by shutting down Thomas over five innings.

Nauman faced just one batter over the minimum, allowing a leadoff walk in the second inning. She struck out six and sat down the last 12 straight batters she faced.

The Elmhurst offense scored six runs in the first and plated four more runs in the fourth to blow the game open and shorten the game to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Elmhurst banged out 10 hits, including two apiece from Sarah Cademartori, Bella Masini, Griffin, and Rose Wysocki. Cademartori drove in two runs while Masini scored twice.

Boals, Griffin, Julie Devine, Wysocki, Kaminke, and Ele Walter all drove in a run in the Elmhurst victory.

Elmhurst faces Wellesley and UW-Stevens Point on Thursday (March 22).
