Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. - The Elmhurst College softball team moved to 7-3 on the season after splitting a pair of games at the NTC Spring Games. The Bluejays dropped a 4-1 game to Tufts University but bounced back to edge Colby College 6-5.
TUFTS 4, ELMHURST 1- Elmhurst's bats were shut down by Tuft's Allyson Fournier in the Bluejays' three-run loss to the Jumbos. Elmhurst managed just one hit, a
Rose Wysocki single, in the contest.
The Bluejays fell behind 4-0 after Tufts broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lindsay Nauman took the loss for the Bluejays, surrendering three runs (two earned) over four innings of work. She walked two and struck out one.
Stephanie Iori finished up in relief, surrendering two hits and one run in two innings. She walked one and fanned two.
ELMHURST 6, COLBY 5 - The Bluejays upped their record to 7-3 on the season by toppling Colby 6-5.
Elmhurst scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to account for the game-winning run.
Colby jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, but Elmhurst evened the score in the bottom of the frame with a
Tiffany Potthast RBI single and an error on Colby. The Bluejays surged in front in the third inning on Wysocki's two-run single.
Colby plated a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to knot the score at four, but the Bluejays answered back with a
Clare Bukowski run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth.
A run for Colby in the top of the sixth tied the game at five, but an error in the bottom of the sixth led to a run for the Bluejays.
Wysocki and Potthast recorded two hits apiece for Elmhurst in the win.
Potthast made the start from the circle and took a no-decision. She worked four innings and allowed six his and two earned runs. She walked one and struck out three. Scarlet Pucci pitched two innings in relief to earn the win, allowing just two hits and one run. Iori pitched a scoreless seventh inning and struck out two to record the save.
