Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst softball team upped its record to 6-2 on the season after defeating Wesleyan University and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
Elmhurst held off Wesleyan for a 6-4 victory and closed out the day with a 4-1 win over UW-Stevens Point.
ELMHURST 6, WESLEYAN 4 - Elmhurst raced out to a 6-1 lead and held off a seventh-inning rally from Wesleyan to improve to 5-4 on the season.
Tiffany Potthast sparked Elmhurst's with a 3-for-3 day at the plate.
Katie Boals,
Clare Bukowski and
Meg Griffin collected two hits apiece in the win. Bukowski drove in two runs while also bashing her first home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning. Boals, Griffin, and
Lindsey Mikulecky also drove in runs for Elmhurst.
Bella Masini scored a team-leading three runs and while also driving in a run for Elmhurst.
Potthast made the start from the circle for the Bluejays, working four innings and recording the win. Potthast allowed just three hits and one unearned run while walking three and striking out one.
Lindsay Nauman finished up in relief, allowing two hits and three runs in three innings of work. She walked one and fanned four.
ELMHURST 4, UW-STEVENS POINT 1 - Stephanie Iori upped her record to 4-0 while pitching the Bluejays to a 4-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Iori scattered eight hits and three walks over seven innings but allowed just one earned run while fanning five.
Six different Bluejays accounted for all six of Elmhurst's hits. Bukowski, Potthast and
Rose Wysocki all drove in a run in the victory.
Elmhurst will resume play at the NTC Spring Games on Tuesday, March 20.
