Softball Team Splits Pair in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst College softball team kicked off its spring break trip to Florida by splitting a pair of games at the NTC Spring Tournament. The Bluejays upended Concordia University (Wis.) 6-2 before falling to SUNY-Plattsburgh 1-0 in the night cap.

ELMHURST 6, CONCORDIA 2 - Elmhurst upped its record to 4-1 on the season with a 6-2 win over Concordia.

Concordia struck first for a pair of runs in the top of the first, but the Bluejays answered back with six runs in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.


Trailing by two in the bottom of the fourth, Tiffany Potthast started the Bluejays' scoring by doubling home a run. Carly Kaminke followed with a run-scoring single to knot the score at two. Sarah Cademartori doubled home both Potthast and Kaminke to give Elmhurst a 4-2 lead. Bella Masini added an RBI single and later scored on a passed ball to give Elmhurst a 6-2 lead.

Stephanie Iori tossed a complete game for the Bluejays, surrendering just three hits and one earned run. Iori walked three and struck out five in the win.

SUNY-PLATTSBURGH 1, ELMHURST 0 - SUNY-Plattsburgh's Ashley Marshall shut down Elmhurst's bats as Elmhurst was blanked 1-0.

The game was a pitching dual between Marshall and Elmhurst's Lindsay Nauman. SUNY-Plattsburgh scored the game's only run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Brianna Clarke.

The Bluejays managed just four hits off of Marshall as the SUNY-Plattsburgh pitcher allowed just one walk while striking out 10.

Nauman took the loss for Elmhurst despite allowing only two hits and one earned run. Nauman walked five while striking out two.
