Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team scored a 25-13, 25-17, 25-11 victory over North Park to clinch home-floor advantage in the upcoming CCIW Tournament.
Elmhurst (27-7), ranked ninth in the latest AVCA Division III poll, breezed to the three-set win. The Bluejays raced out to 15-5 lead in the opening set and cruised to the 12-point win.
In the second set, the Bluejays led 9-7 before an 8-4 run gave Elmhurst a six-point cushion. Elmhurst slowly pulled away to take the set 25-17.
Elmhurst sprinted out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and never looked back, cruising to the 25-11 win to put away the match.
The Bluejays hit .348 as a team with 45 kills and only 13 errors in 92 attempts.
Megan Reynolds led the charge for Elmhurst with 10 kills (.529 hitting percentage) and three blocks.
Marci Novak added nine kills and seven digs while
Kaitlyn Wilks finished with eight kills and two blocks. Antonéya Veasy Smith and
Sam Szarmach finished with six kills apiece.
Erin Thill totaled 24 assists and five aces while
Katie Rueffer finished with 11 assists.
Elmhurst will host the CCIW Tournament this Friday-Saturday (November 2-3). The first semifinal will feature Carthage taking on Wheaton and begin at 4:30 p.m. Elmhurst will face fourth-seeded Millikin University on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The championship match will be held on Saturday (November 3) at 2:00 p.m.
