BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team's record dipped to 7-7 overall after dropping a pair of contests in Bloomington. The Bluejays dropped a 5-4 decision to host Illinois Wesleyan University, before falling 7-2 to Monmouth College.

The Bluejays moved to 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW with the losses.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 5, ELMHURST 4 - Illinois Wesleyan slipped past Elmhurst by one point, handing the Bluejays their second CCIW defeat of the season.

The two teams split the six singles matches and Illinois Wesleyan won two of the three doubles contests to earn the one-point victory.

IWU's Brian Piotrowski toppled Alex Harbert 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Will Jung defeated the Titans' Nick Kenaga 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while IWU's Brian Sorich upended David Devaney 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Illinois Wesleyan's Michael Christison scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Vincent McPherson at No. 4 singles. Elmhurst closed out singles play with a pair of victories. Jim White toppled Reddy Ashvin 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 5 singles while Justin Guenther defeated Steve Hayman 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, the Titans' pairing of Sorich and Brian Piotrowski defeated Jung and Devaney 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Christison and Kenaga defeated Harbert and McPherson 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Elmhurst's duo of White and Eric Moss downed Aaron Guenther and Arnold Asjes 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.

MONMOUTH 7, ELMHURST 2 - Elmhurst fell to 7-7 overall following a 7-2 loss to Monmouth College. The Fighting Scotts swept all three doubles matches and took four of the six singles matches.

Elmhurst scored its only two points in singles play. Devaney defeated Chris Utterback 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Guenther edged Tyler Lampe 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

Elmhurst hosts Wheaton College on Tuesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m.
