CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team improved to 6-6 in the CCIW by sweeping a doubleheader from North Park University. The Bluejays won game one 7-2 and completed the sweep with a 2-0 victory in game two.
ELMHURST 7, NORTH PARK 2 - Elmhurst raced out to a 5-0 lead and held off the Vikings for a 7-2 victory.
Elmhurst scored two in the first, a run in the second, and two more in the fourth to open up a 5-0 lead before North Park got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Elmhurst put the game away with a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
Sarah Cademartori,
Lindsey Mikulecky, and
Katie Hruby all drove in runs for the Bluejays.
Stephanie Iori picked up the win for Elmhurst, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Iori scattered two hits and two runs over seven innings of work. She walked four and fanned four in the victory.
ELMHURST 2, NORTH PARK 0 - Lindsay Nauman pitched a complete game shutout to lift the Bluejays to a 2-0 win in game two.
Elmhurst (14-22 overall) used a pair of two-out singles to score both its runs. Cademartori singled home
Rose Wysocki in the third inning to put the Bluejays on top 1-0. A two-out, single by
Julie Devine in the sixth inning drove home an insurance run to give Elmhurst the 2-0 win.
Nauman allowed only two hits while keeping the Vikings off the scoreboard for all seven innings. She struck out five while walking six in the victory.
Elmhurst closes out the 2011 regular season by hosting Carthage College on Saturday, April 30.
