ELKHORN, Wis. - The Elmhurst Colllege men's tennis team slipped to 9-10 on the season after being shut out 9-0 by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
UW-Whitewater (26-5) swept all six singles contests and the three doubles matches en route to the shutout. The Warhawks's Andrew Bayless toppled
Alex Harbert 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while Andy McGlashen downed Elmhurst's Will JUng 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, UW-Whitewater's Mitch Osborne toppled
David Devaney 7-6, 7-3. Byron Balkin followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over
Vincent McPherson at No. 4 singles. Ethan Niquet (6-2, 6-0 win over
Justin Guenther at No. 5 singles) and Erik Scanlan (6-2, 6-4 win over
Dean Leventis at No. 6 singles) closed out singles play for the Warhawks with a pair of wins.
In doubles play, Osborne and Bayless teamed up to defeat McPherson and Jung 8-4 at No.1 doubles. Charlie Miller and Scanlan downed Harbert and Devaney 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Brian Klein and Kevin Friend closed out doubles play with an 8-3 over Elmhurst's
Eric Moss and
Jim White at No. 3 doubles.
