WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team slipped to 6-8 overall following a 9-0 shutout loss at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Whitewater swept all six singles matches and won all three doubles contests en route to the 9-0 victory.
Danny Glinert downed Elmhurst's
Dave Douglass 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Mike Harmatys defeated
David Devaney 6-3, 3-0 (retired) at No. 2 singles. The Warhawks scored wins from Kyle Halweg (6-4, 7-6 over
Dean Leventis) and Mark Sasait (6-1, 6-1 over
Justin Guenther) at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Ian Hintz added a 6-1, 7-6 win over
Jim White at No. 5 singles for the Warhawks while R. J. Rademacher closed out singles play with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 win over
Eric Moss at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, UW-Whitewater's Kelvin Caiati and Glinert defeated Douglass and Devaney 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Charlie Miller and Hintz followed with an 8-4 victory over Leventis and Moss at No. 2 doubles. Derek Taylor and Sansait scored an 8-6 decision over Guenther and White at No. 3 doubles.
Elmhurst will face Augustana College on Friday April 23, at 4:00 p.m. Due to the threat of rain, the match has been moved indoors to Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park.
