ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's tennis team slipped to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in CCIW play following a 7-2 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University.
Illinois Wesleyan (9-2, 1-1 CCIW) won five of the six singles matches, and two of the three doubles contests to score the 7-2 win.
IWU's Brian Piotrowski downed Elmhurst's
Dave Douglass 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. The Titan's Tom Deschler downed
David Devaney 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles while IWU's Nick Kenaga defeated
Dean Leventis 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Michael Christison (6-0, 6-4 over
Justin Guenther) and Steven Hayman (6-4, 6-3 over
Jim White) added wins for the Titans at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Elmhurst's
Eric Moss scored Elmhurst's only point in singles by defeating Charlie Sell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Piotrowski and Deschler downed Devaney and Douglass 8-5 at No. 1 doubles while Kenaga and Christison defeated Moss and Leventis 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. The tandem of White and Guenther defeated Sell and Kola 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Elmhurst hosts the College of DuPage on April 15.
