Loras Box Score
Cornell Box Score

CLERMONT, Fla.
- The Elmhurst College softball team upped its record to 9-5 overall after splitting a pair of contests at the NTC Tournament in Clermont, Fla.

The Bluejays started the day with a 3-2 victory over Loras College. Elmhurst's four-game winning streak was snapped in a 7-4 loss to Cornell College.

ELMHURST 3, LORAS 2 - Rose Wysocki delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift Elmhurst to a 3-2 victory over Loras College.

Loras grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when the Duhawks scored an unearned run. Elmhurst quickly recaptured the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Wysocki led off the inning and reached second base on a two-base error. After a sacrifice bunt moved Wysocki to third, Julie Devine walked. Cindel Erdmann pinch ran for Devine and promptly stole second. Maureen Roderick gave Elmhurst the lead with a two-run single.

Loras tied the score with a run in the sixth, setting up Elmhurst's walk-off victory in the seventh. Amanda Bowlin led off the inning with a walk and was pinch ran for by Gina Venier. Katie Hruby singled to move Venier to second, and Becca Zumpf followed with a single to load the bases. Venier was thrown at the plate on Sarah Cademartori's grounder to short, but Wysocki drove home Hruby with a base hit to give Elmhurst the win.

Roderick and Hruby recorded two hits apiece in the Bluejay victory.

Stephanie Iori earned the win for Elmhurst, scattering three hits and two walks over seven innings of work. Iori, who improved to 5-3 with the win, allowed just one earned run while striking out five.

CORNELL 7, ELMHURST 4 - Cornell snapped Elmhurst's streak of four consecutive victories by scoring a 7-4 win.

Cornell did the majority of its damage in the first inning, scoring six runs against Elmhurst starter Lindsay Nauman. Cornell loaded the bases with one out and then took advantage of some wildness by Nauman to score its runs. Five straight walks staked Cornell to a 5-0 lead before an RBI single gave the Rams a 6-0 lead.

Elmhurst sliced the lead down to just two runs by scoring a pair in the second and a single run in the fourth and fifth innings. Cornell pushed its lead back to three with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Roderick, Maggie Yagen, and Jill Karsa all drove in runs for the Bluejays.

Nauman took the loss after allowing two hits, five walks, and five earned runs in 0.1 innings pitched. Erika Schwartz finished up in relief, surrendering one unearned run in 5.2 innings of work.
