CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst College softball team kicked off its 12-game road trip to the NTC Tournament with a pair of blowout victories. The Bluejays opened the tournament with a 9-1 victory over Morrisville State College and then blasted Washington & Jefferson College 12-1.
ELMHURST 9, MORRISVILLE 1 - Elmhurst kicked off its spring break trip with a 9-1 five-inning victory over Morrisville State College.
Elmhurst scored two runs in the first, one in the third, and four runs in the third to open up a 7-0 lead before scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth for a walk-off victory with the eight-run mercy rule.
The Bluejays banged out nine hits in the victory with
Rose Wysocki recording two hits and driving in a run.

Jill Karsa all drove in one run in the Bluejays' victory.
Lindsay Nauman pitched a gem to improve to 3-1 on the season. Nauman was perfect through the first four innings before giving up a lead-off single in the fifth. She finished with just one hit and one unearned run allowed in five innings of work. Nauman issued one walk while fanning three.
ELMHURST 12, WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON 1 - The Bluejays scored seven runs in the first inning while battering Washington & Jefferson 12-1 in six innings.
Elmhurst added five runs in the top of the sixth inning to score the 11-run victory.
The Bluejays banged out 15 hits in the victor with every Elmhurst starter recording a base hit.
Julie Devine led the charge for Elmhurst by finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Zumpf added three hits while scoring a pair of runs and driving in one. Hruby and Wysocki tallied two hits apiece while Cademartori, Karsa, Yagen, and
Gina Venier each added an RBI.
Stephanie Iori notched the win for the Bluejays from the circle. Iori scattered three hits and three walks over six innings of work. Iori allowed just one run while striking out 11.
