ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College softball team upped its record to 3-3 overall after splitting a home-opening doubleheader against 24th-ranked Lake Forest College.
The Bluejays were blanked in the opening game 8-0, but bounced back from the loss to topple the Forresters 7-2 in game two.
LAKE FOREST 8, ELMHURST 0 (Game One) - Lake Forest baned out 10 hits while limiting the Bluejays to only two his in a five-inning victory.
Lindsay Nauman was tagged for six hits and six runs (four earned) in 3.1 innings of work. Nauman walked five in the loss.
Erika Schwartz pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
Sarah Cademartori and
Maggie Yagen each recorded a hit for the Bluejays in the loss.
ELMHURST 7, LAKE FOREST 2 - Elmhurst banged out 12 hits while scoring a 7-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.
Trailing 2-0 after two innings, the Bluejays broke the game open with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning. Elmhurst tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the fifth inning.
Maureen Roderick led the Bluejays at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of runs driven in.
Julie Devine added two hits and a pair of RBI while
Becca Zumpf and
Sarah Cademartori each recorded two hits in the victory.
Stephanie Iori earned the win for the Bluejays. Iori scattered four hits and four walks over seven innings of work. She allowed two runs while striking out eight.
