ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped in a 25-12, 15-25, 22-25, 20-25 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University.

Elmhurst (5-6 overall, 2-1 CCIW) raced out to a quick 1-0 lead by hammering Illinois Wesleyan (11-2, 2-0 CCIW) in the first set. The Titans battled right back and grabbed the second set 25-15. The two teams battled back-and-forth in the third set with the score being knotted at 20-all. The Titans won five of the final seven points to take a 2-1 advantage. In the fourth and decisive set, the Bluejays led 20-18, but the Titans won the next seven points to take the set and the match.

Antonéya Veasy Smith led the Bluejays in the loss, pounding down 14 kills and recording three blocks. Lisa Burger added nine kills and five digs while Caitlin O'Hara and Melissa Miehlke totaled six kills apiece. O'Hara added a team-leading four blocks. Erin Thill finished with 32 assists while Katie Buechel led the team in digs with eight.

The Bluejays play at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational on September 25-26.
