Elmhurst Softball Team Splits Pair in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Elmhurst College softball team improved to 6-2 on the season after splitting a pair of contests at the NTC Spring Games.

Elmhurst began the day with a 4-2 loss to Union College (N.Y.),  but bounced back to double up the University of Chicago 6-3.

UNION (N.Y.) 4, ELMHURST 2 - Elmhurst fell to 5-2 on the season following a 4-2 loss to Union College.

Vanessa Kalalsuffered the loss for the Bluejays, allowing three earned runs and nine hits over five innings of work. She walked two and struck out two batters while taking the loss.

Becca Zumpf led the Bluejays' offense in the loss, finishing with three hits in four at bats. Zumpf also scored a run and drove in a run for Elmhurst. Maureen Roderick collected a pair of hits and also drove in a run in the loss.

ELMHURST 6, CHICAGO 3 - The Bluejays bounced back from their loss to Union with a 6-3 victory over the University of Chicago.

Lindsay Nauman earned the victory from the mound for Elmhurst. Nauman worked four innings and allowed just two runs and three hits. She walked three and fanned three in the win. Amber Schwarzinger earned the save in relief, allowing just one run over three innings of work.

Michele Fournier finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Melissa McCarthy added a triple and also drove in a run. Liz McAllister and Gina Venier drove in a run apiece in the win.
