WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational to move to 21-11 on the season. The Bluejays toppled UW-Stevens Point 3-1 and then dropped a 3-2 contest to UW-River Falls.
ELMHURST 3, UW-STEVENS POINT 1 - Elmhurst won their fifth straight match, and 11th of its last 12 matches, by scoring a 25-20, 17-25, 25-13, 25-23 win over Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Alison Friedrich led the charge for Elmhurst with a 13-kill, 6-dig, 4-block performance. Morgan Jones added seven kills while Lisa Burger finished with six kills and six digs. Lindy Melville registered a team-high 19 assists while Emily Hilliker finished with 12 assists. Jameela Chaudhry totaled a team-high nine digs and Mary Foss added four blocks in the victory.
UW-RIVER FALLS 3, ELMHURST 2 - Elmhurst had its win streak snapped with a 23-25, 21-25, 29-27, 25-18, 10-15 five-set loss to Wisconsin-River Falls. Caitlin O'Hara finished with a team-high 15 kills and six blocks in the loss. Friedrich added 12 kills, seven digs, and four blocks while Hilliker finished with nine kills and a team-high 34 assists. Chaudhry finished a team-high 12 digs in the loss.
Elmhurst will face a pair of nationally ranked teams on the tournament's second day. The Bluejays will face seventh-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the 11th-ranked tournament hosts, Wisconsin-Whitewater.
