ROCK ISLAND, Ill - Elmhurst Men's and Women's Golf traveled to Rock Island Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7, competing at the Highland Classic hosted by Augustana. The men finished tenth among a field of 23 teams, while the women placed seventh among 12 both in a field of various collegiate levels.

The men stayed consistent, going 299 (+11) each day. Opening the tournament junior and senior duo Lachlan Bowen (+1) and Anay Saxena (+1) held Elmhurst steady. While Bo Smith (+4) and freshman Mason Stieler (+5) carded scores of 76 and 77, adding to their round one finish of tenth place.

Day two was also led by Saxena (+2), where the Bluejays carded a total of 299 (+11) once again. Smith (+2), Stieler (+3), and freshman Brandon Sweeney (+4)  maintained Elmhurst for round two.

Elmhurst men's golf finished with a total score of 598 (+22). Leading the Bluejays for the two-day tournament was Saxena with 147 (+3), placing 19th among 126. While Smith trailed by three for a total of 150 (+6).

Elmhurst women's golf opened with a 356 (+68) to sit eighth before improving by 21 strokes with a second-round score of 335 (+47), moving into seventh place overall.

The Bluejays were led by freshman Madeline Logan, carding 84 (+12), and 74 (+2), jumping 13 places to set herself in 6th place of 70.

On day one, Logan (+12) led Elmhurst, followed by Lauren Straughter (+17), Laine Leonard (+17), and Ava Ferri (+22) as the team's top four scorers. The Bluejays saw improvement on day two from Logan (+2), Ferri (+14), Straughter (+15), and Megan Las (+16), securing the seventh-place finish.

Up Next: The men travel to Aurora, Ill. for the Spartan Double Gun, teeing off at 8 a.m. While the women will travel to Metamora, Ill. for the CCIW Preview on Sept. 10. with a start time to be determined.
