ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fell, 3-2, to No. 14 Washington University in St. Louis on Monday, Sept. 7 at Langhorst Field.
After a scoreless first half, Elmhurst (1-1-1) put itself on the board first with a penalty kick goal from Andrew Walters at 58:28. The Bluejays remained in control after the kickoff, using a three-touch sequence to find their second goal. Ashton Kerrigan connected with Isaac Puchalla, who found Brian Biederman who put the ball in the back of the net to secure a 2-0 lead for the Blue and White.
WashU (2-0-0) responded just five minutes later with a goal from Wole Adeoye to cut the Bluejays lead to one. Elmhurst's defense continued to battle, working to limit the Bears' opportunities, but WashU was able to add two more goals over nine minutes of play to head home with a 3-2 victory.
Up Next: The Bluejays travel to Pasadena, Calif. to take on the California Institute of Technology on Friday, Sept. 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. from North Field.
