CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's volleyball pushed the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) to five sets on Wednesday, Sept. 16, before falling 3-2 at the Keating Sports Center.
The Bluejays opened the match with a 25-18 first-set win. Illinois Tech. (4-4) responded by taking the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-18, to move ahead 2-1.
Elmhurst (3-5) answered with its strongest attacking set of the night, recording 13 kills and a .233 hitting percentage in the fourth. The Bluejays took the set 25-21 to force a fifth, Illinois Tech. secured the match with a 15-7 win.
Katie Hurta led Elmhurst with 14 kills and added eight digs.
Samantha Webb put down nine kills and 18 digs, while
Freddie Temple recorded 33 assists and 11 digs.
Elayna Ammerman added a match high of 24 digs and two service aces. While
Aubrey LeCleir served in a team-high of four aces. Elmhurst finished the match with 44 kills, seven service aces and 88 digs.
