Bluejays Fall on the Road, in a Two Game Series

Rock Island, Ill - The Bluejays Traveled to Rock Island, Illinois this weekend to face off in their second match up in conference play, with three home runs in a single inning.

Game 1
Augustana 23, Elmhurst 0
W: Chance Carruthers L: Nieves, Adan (0-3)

Elmhurst endured a limited game with the Vikings scoring the first four innings, Brett Verycrusse led the Bluejays going 2-3, while Evan Johsnon and Javier Cervantes went 1-2.

On the mound, Adan Nieves took the loss, going 2.2 innings and allowing 10 runs on 10 hits while striking out one. Charlie Hoeper, and Alex Rzonca came in as relief falling short to break the surge ending the game 0-23 for the Bluejays.

The Bluejays fell to Augustana, 10-9, in a back-and-forth game taking off in the second inning with a 6 run surge, and a late push from the Bluejays. Elmhurst led with a 6-0 mark in the second inning behind three home runs from Rock Smith, Connor Drowns, and Ryder Johnson, along with an RBI single from Zach Konrad. 

Augustana responded with runs in the middle innings to take the lead, but Elmhurst answered in the seventh with a two-run single from Logan Bryant to tie the game at 8-8. After Augustana regained the lead in the eighth, Bryant added time in the ninth to even the score at 9-9, but Augustana ultimately secured the win. 

Offensively, Ryder Johnson led with three hits and two RBIs, and a homer. While Rock Smith also recorded three hits, scored twice, and added a home run. Connor Drowns finished with two hits and two RBIs, including a home run, while Logan Bryant drove in two runs. Zach Konrad added two hits, one RBI, and a walk, and Javier Cervantes contributed two hits and scored twice. 

On the mound, Jonathan Boyles took the loss, working 5.1 innings and allowing nine runs on 11 hits with three walks. Marty Fraga came in to close out, going 2.2 innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out one. 

Elmhurst will be back in action Tuesday April 7th at 3 PM against Dominican for a non conference match up.
