Track & Field start outdoor season at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst Track & Field opened the outdoor season over the weekend, competing at the North Central College First Chance Invite along with select crews at the NCC Distance Fling and WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis on Friday.

One of the top finishes of the weekend came in the women's 200 meters, where Violet Schramm placed 3rd overall, with a time of 26.43. Schramm's time is a personal best for the sophomore, who also finished 4th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.29

In the women's 400 meter hurdles, Olivia Brach also picked up a third-place result, finishing in 1:10.07. Brach posted two personal records, in the 400 hurdles as well as the 100 meter hurdles (17.16), where she placed 17th overall.

Other top-ten results for the Bluejays include Joanna Rivera in the 800 meters (2:29.39), Tiana Grady (15.97) and Anna Andretich (16.19) in the 100 meter hurdles, Angelina Camaci (1.49m) in the high jump, Jessica Popko (2.92m) in the women's pole vault, and Vanessa Carr (4.94m) in the long jump.

In the distance events on Friday, Joanna Rivera posted a time of 5:11.41 in the women's 1,500 meters to finish 7th overall. Rivera set two PR's, including in the 800 meters on Saturday.

In St. Louis on Friday, Sarah Hahn and Molly Roberts both posted the top times in the CCIW in their respective events. Hahn recorded a time of 4:34.64 in the women's 1,500 meters, while Roberts went 38:06.93 in the women's 10,000 meters.

On the men's side, Zaiden Smith picked up a pair of top-eight finishes, placing 6th in the men's 400 meters (51.53), and 8th in the men's 200 meters (22.69). Kayton Garrett earned a 6th-place result in the men's long jump (6.41m), while David Monteilh picked up 8th in the men's high jump (1.80m). Jaedon Thompson finished with the top result for the team, finishing 2nd in the men's javelin (49.61m).

The Bluejays continue the outdoor season on Tuesday, when they compete at the Wheaton Invite, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
