HANOVER, Ind. – The Bluejays would hold the home team off the scoreboard in the opening period and just two goals in the first half, as Elmhurst picked up a road win at Hanover (Ind.), winning 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon.

Zoe Valdevenito led the way on attack for the Jays, scoring four goals on six shots. Hannah Jacob also finished with a hat trick, posting three goals and an assist in the win.

Elmhurst struck early, scoring the first goal of the game less than 60 seconds into the match, off the stick of Ashley Kay Sardon. Jacob would double the Bluejay lead with her first goal of the day less than four minutes later, and Elmhurst would take a 2-0 lead into the second quarter.

Hanover would get on the board four minutes into the second, but a three-goal run with scores from Natalie Harty, Valdevenito, and Olivia Ingraffia stretched the lead to 5-1. Valdevenito added another goal in the closing seconds of the first half as both sides traded scores and the Bluejays would lead 6-2 at the break.

Two more scores in the third quarter, with one each from Jacob and Valdevenito pushed the lead further, and the Bluejays would out-score Hanover 3-2 in the fourth period to close out the win.

The Bluejays will close out the three-match road trip on Friday afternoon, when they travel to Whittenberg (Ohio) for a matchup beginning at 3:00 p.m. CDT.
