SPRINGFIELD, OH - Elmhurst University women's lacrosse fell to Wittenberg, 12-7, with a late push in the fourth quarter.
The Bluejays struck first with an unassisted goal from Olivia Ingraffia, then added another to tie it up from Zoe Valdevenito. Although the Bluejays led with a strong start, Wittenberg closed the first quarter on a run and extended its lead through the second and third periods. Elmhurst responded in the fourth quarter with four goals, but couldn't overcome the deficit.
Offensively, Elmhurst was led by Olivia Ingraffia with two goals, while Grace Lorkiewicz pushed one into the net and added an assist. Ashley Kay Sardon, Andrea Murtland, Zoe Valdevenito, and Hannah Jacob also each added a goal.
In goal, Jacq Vanoni played the entire time for Elmhurst, recording 10 saves while facing 22 shots. As a team, the Bluejays battled the last three quarters, gaining ground on the deficit but fell short, taking 30 shots, causing 16 turnovers.
