Bluejays Fall to NYU in Florida

AUBURNDALE, FL. - The Bluejays jumped out to an early lead but fell short to New York University, 13-3. The Bluejays opened with a two-run second inning and carried the momentum early. Elmhurst showed fight again in the sixth as Adan Nieves doubled to left field, with Zach Konrad hit, Nieves was able to steal third. Logan Bryant reached first by an error, allowing Nieves to score, but NYU maintained the lead from the second as Elmhurst moved to 5-7 on the season.

The Bluejays showed strong offensive flashes early in the contest. In the second inning, Zach Konrad and Logan Bryant set the table before Brett Vercruysse delivered with an RBI single to bring in the first run with Konrad. Elmhurst added another shortly after as Bryant came around to score, giving the Bluejays a 2-0 advantage. Later in the game, Adan Nieves sparked the offense again in the sixth inning with a double, eventually adding to the score for Elmhurst's third run. Rock Smith and Vercruysse each finished with two hits, while Nieves and Konrad also crossed the plate.

On the mound, Elmhurst battled through a challenging middle stretch as NYU capitalized in the fourth inning. The Bluejays continued, limiting further damage in the later innings. Jonathan Boyles opened on the mound. Boyles worked through the early innings and helped the Bluejays jump out to a 2-0 lead. Jack Krueger entered in the middle innings to bridge the game during a high-pressure stretch, stepping in with runners on and working to limit further damage. Jack Goergen closed out for Elmhurst, finishing the game and helping the Bluejays settle things in the later innings.
