Bluejays compete at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Elmhurst Track & Field would send five athletes to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, as the Bluejays featured in the sprinting and jumping events over the weekend.

Carmela Woods was the lone Bluejay to set a personal record at the Championships, with her time in the women's 400 meters. Woods would place 12th in the preliminaries, posting a time of 56.29, bettering her time set at the CCIW Championships by nearly two tenths.

Chloe Selmer and Paulina Tinajero would both compete in the women's long jump and triple jump. On Friday, Tinajero would finish 10th in the long jump, with a mark of 5.49m (18' 0.25"), while Selmer placed 15th (5.45m; 17' 0.75"). In Saturday's triple jump, Tinajero earned the team's highest placement, finishing in 9th with a jump of 11.65m (38' 2.75") while Selmer was 13th with a mark of 11.54m (37' 10.5").

In the women's 60 meter hurdles, Tiana Grady would post a season-best time of 8.8 seconds, placing 14th overall in the preliminaries. Sarah Hahn clocked in at 2:13.10 in the women's 800 meters earning a 15th-place result.

The Bluejays now start their preparations for outdoor track & field season, beginning with the North Central First Chance Invite, set for Saturday, March 28.
