Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse takes first loss of season to Ohio Wesleyan

ELMHURST, Ill. – A tough start to the second half would be too much for the Bluejays to respond to, and Elmhurst Men's Lacrosse would suffer their first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon, 16-9 to Ohio Wesleyan at Langhorst Field.

Eli Spence and Hunter Hernandez would both lead the Bluejays with three goals on the day, but a 6-1 scoring margin in the third quarter would allow the Bishops to take a 14-6 lead into the final period.

The Jays started the day with three goals in the first quarter, opening with Hernandez's first goal less than a minute into play. Ohio Wesleyan responded with three straight before Spence and Kyle Taylor found the back of the net for a 3-3 tie through the first.

Spence and Hernandez would strike again in the second period, but the visitors would post five goals to take an 8-5 lead into the halftime break.

The visitors pulled way in the third, opening the second half with five unanswered scores, including a stretch of three goals in less than a minute.

Elmhurst mounted a rally early in the fourth, with three straight scores from Landon Davis, Taylor and Hernandez to cut the deficit to 14-9, but Ohio Wesleyan would get two more on the board and run out the rest of the clock to close out the win.

The Bluejays will look to bounce back in the fifth and final game of the current two-week homestand, when they host Hope (Mich.) on Saturday, March 14, at 1:00 p.m.
